Spoiler Alert.

There is a war. India wins the war. It’s a 3.5-hour movie.

If the primary purpose of the movie is to keep patriotism alive within us, then yes — it does a good job.

These are the kind of movies every Indian should watch at least once. Border 1 — who hasn’t watched that? Okay, I haven’t watched it watched it properly, only in bits and pieces. But the memories are still there. Sunny Deol shouting. Sunil Shetty sacrificing himself by carrying a bomb into the enemy tank. All those emotions still hit. That’s the power of cinema.

This latest part brings a more modern touch by including all three forces — Army, Navy, and Air Force.

One thing I found funny was that whenever the three leading actors were together, each of them got equal importance, taking turns standing in the center. It honestly felt like there should have been a disclaimer:

“No sentiments of actors were hurt during the production of this film.”

I believe that even if these movies aren’t Oscar-level masterpieces, they should still be made. Maybe even once every year. So that we, as Indians, stay connected to our roots. We’ve become a bit numb due to corruption and excessive westernization. Movies like RRR, Swades, LOC, Shaurya, and Lakshya are the ones that remind us of our Mother India.

We can even learn something from European countries like Germany or Russia, where governments have sponsored such films in the past. Of course, just copy the idea of building patriotism through cinema — not every ideology needs to be copied ;-)

The songs! Oh, the songs. The songs in patriotic movies just hit differently.“

Ki ghar kab aaogey, haan ghar kab aaogey”

“Mitti ki yeh khushboo tu kaise bhulayega”

Overall, the movie is a one-time watch — lengthy, nostalgic, and emotionally charged. And yes, there aren’t just three, but four leading actors.

Sunny Deol is great, Varun Dhawan is awesome, Diljit is good, Ahaan is there. Overall, yes, good.

Verdict - 6
